Apron Swap - Spring 2008

*** This Swap is now Closed.***
After a year of blogging free apron tutorials, I am now ready to move onto new aproning activities in 2008. This year I would like to host 4 seasonal apron swaps. So I am now soliciting apron makers and wearers from around to globe to participate in these swaps.

SASbutton

About Me --- I have been sewing since I was about 8 years old. I have been wearing aprons longer than I can remember. I have had a love of wearing and collecting aprons since my earliest childhood. I would like to share that love of aprons with other apron lovers.

Here's what I propose for the swaps... I am breaking the swaps up into 4 swaps.

The first swap will occur from January to March, the second from April to June, the third from July to September, and the last from October to December.

Since the first swap ends in March, I am proposing a spring swap.
You will create an adult sized apron with springtime theme. That can incorporate the color, the design, whatever. It just needs to speak SPRING, use your imagination.

You can design your own or use a loved pattern. If you cannot sew but want to participate you may purchase an apron but it MUST be a Hand-Made apron. If sewing your apron, please pre-wash all your fabrics before making your apron. This will ensure that there is no bleeding or shrinking of fabrics when the new owner launders it.

How about a list of requirements:

Spring Theme
Must be hand-made by your hands or those of another crafter
Pre-washed cotton fabric
A pocket of some sort
Embellishments are welcome but not required (rickrack, trims, buttons)
Adult sized apron

Included with your Apron should be
A well loved family recipe for soup.

When is the apron due?
Aprons must be mailed out by March 1st at the latest.

Deadline to commit to the swap - January 20th.
To sign up for the swap you must send me an e-mail at byrdhouse1(at)windstream(dot)net.
I will collect all the names, swap them out, and then post you an e-mail listing your partner's information.

Include the following in the e-mail:
1) Full name

2) mailing address

3) blog URL

4) email address

5) Please indicate if you are willing to ship internationally or not

6) Anything you want your partner to know such as color dislikes, size, or some such info.

About Your Partner
You will not have the same person that has you. This will allow you to blog your apron creation without spoiling the fun for your swap partner. This also allows you to snoop around your partner’s blog (if they have one) and get a little more information about their tastes).
I don’t know if I will do all the swaps this way this year but I thought it would be fun to try it this way the first time.

I will open a flickr group where we can post our apron pictures (as soon as I figure out how).

If the person’s size is a factor in your apron construction, you can e-mail me and I will contact them for you and let you know (provided they tell me). Hee hee. (That in mind it would be nice to try for a "fit’s most" size, which most aprons are)
